Wal-Mart Slashing Thom McAn Orders Next Year
OCTOBER 05, 2005 --
In '02, Footstar began supplying Thom McAn family footwear to about 300 doors. In February '03, the arrangement was expanded to up to 1,500 Wal-Marts in the US and Puerto Rico. In '04, Footstar sold about $28.6 million of Thom McAn shoes to the chain. Wal-Mart has advised Footstar that, beginning in January, it will no longer purchase the shoes for any US stores, but will continue to buy them for Puerto Rico. Wal-Mart will continue to source footwear from Footstar for Wal-Mart stores under the retailer's proprietary brands.
