Perry Ellis Links With Dolphins, Dolphins Stadium
SEPTEMBER 27, 2005 --
Perry Ellis International has signed a multi-year agreement with the Miami Dolphins and Dolphins Stadium to promote the company's brands at Dolphins games. The agreement will drive sales for PEI at retail stores through use of Dolphins team and stadium logos, in-store displays and merchandising, and player and cheerleader appearances.
Beginning with the start of the Miami Dolphins regular season, the Cubavera logo will appear on one backlit panel permanent sign for all stadium events, including Miami Dolphins, Florida Marlins, FedEx Orange Bowl, and Monster Truck Jam events with a combined 2.5 million attendees each year. The sign is placed for optimal television camera view, and will be displayed for the Super Bowl in '07. For all home games, PEI will also receive a jumbotron feature entitled, "What's in Dolphins Style."
The agreement gives PEI the rights to place the Dolphins Stadium logo on PEI merchandise and stadium employee uniforms. The company can also use the Dolphins and stadium logos on POP materials for retail promotions. PEI also has the right to promote the company as an exclusive apparel supplier of Dolphins Stadium and as an official sponsor of the Miami Dolphins and Dolphins Stadium.
PEI president Oscar Feldenkreis commented: "We are excited about the opportunity to promote our brands to local fans as well as a national television audience. Our connection to the Dolphins will also enhance our grassroots marketing efforts. Events that include appearances by current and former Miami Dolphins players and cheerleaders at retail locations will drive store traffic and brand sales."
The company, through its wholly owned subsidiaries, owns a portfolio of highly recognized brands including Perry Ellis, Jantzen Cubavera, Munsingwear Savane, Original Penguin, Grand Slam, Natural Issue, Pro Player, the Havanera Co., Axis, and Tricots St. Raphael. The company also licenses trademarks from third parties including Nike for swimwear, and PING and PGA TOUR for golf apparel.
