Sporting Goods Agents Association has canceled plans for its usual Coach & Connect educational program at the next Super Show. SGAA hopes to renew the program in '07. But during its annual meeting at the show, SGAA are honoring Cramer Products with the Manufacturers Appreciation Award; Jim Terry, CO, with its Lifetime Sales Achievement; and Tim Maloney, former SGAA President, CA, will be inducted into the SGAA Hall of Fame, SGAA's highest honor. The meeting will begin 15 minutes earlier than usual on January 23. Starting at 5:45, there will have a hosted reception prior to the opening of the session, thanks to SGMA and Super Show.
During 2Q05, Fleet Feet sales were up 26.9%. With $13.5 million in sales, the chain recorded the first, second and fourth largest sales months in the company's 28-year history. Comp-store sales were up 18.4%. YTD sales were up 22.2% with $25 million in revenues. Comp-store sales were up 14.7% YTD.
Oakley appointed Frits van Paasschen to the company's board of directors. Van Paasschen is president/CEO of Coors Brewing Co., a subsidiary of Molson Coors Brewing. Prior to joining Coors, van Paasschen worked for Nike from '97-'04, serving as corporate VP/GM of Nike's Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
Wachovia upgraded Volcom to outperform from market perform, sending the stock up 11%. The firm cited valuation in the wake of a recent pullback in the share price and said its channel checks on the company's business have been positive…CS First Boston initiated coverage of Nike with an outperform.
